Flag of Independent India
The National Flag of India was adopted in its present form during the meeting of the Constituent Assembly on 22 July 1947, a few days before India's independence. It served as the national flag of the Dominion of India till 26 January 1950, and that of the Republic of India thereafter. In 1921, a flag design consisting of the colours red and green was presented. Mahatma Gandhi modified the flag by adding a white stripe in the centre standing for the other religious communities in India. The flag also had a traditional spinning wheel originally, but was replaced by a blue Dharma Chakra later on.
