War with Pakistan

The 1965 Indo Pak war was the second major conflict in which India clashed with Pakistan over the status of Jammu and Kashmir. It started with the seizure of an area in the Rann of Kutch by a company from Pakistan, before further skirmishes erupted in May of that year. What followed was Operation Ablaze, which included measures taken by the Indian Army in the west of the country after the initial attacks. Two famous campaigns carried out by Pakistan included Operation Gibraltar, a failed campaign aiming to incite an uprising in the Valley beginning August 1965, and September’s Operation Grand Slam, which was a more desperate attempt to capture certain J&K towns.
